the Great healthcare Debate

Over my morning caffeine, I had the pleasure of watching Arlen Spector preside over a bunch of Pennsylvanians at a town hall in Lebanon. I know what PA is truly like, having lived here for over 15 years. I see the difference between the city people and the country folk. I was somewhat prepared for the misshapen 35-year-old who identified herself as a Republican and a Conservative and asked Sen. Spector to uphold the Constitution so that we don't turn into a Socialized country like Russia! I screamed at the television at that point, angrily sloshing my tea and feeling disgusted.

This opinion piece from NPR neatly sums up my feelings, and probably a whole lot of other peoples'. After hearing a sad story from my 65+ friend who recently had surgery, but is entirely active and able, that she might have to move into a senior building because of her medical bills. This from a woman who rides her bike all over the city and looks 50. Straight from the source and it broke my heart.

'Sup Republicans?

What is going on with Republicans and infidelity? That Senator in the gay bathroom incident, that Senator from Nevada last week and today that guy from South Carolina. Seriously there's a trend and I'm kind of enjoying the show...play on boys!

I support Oprah's right to choose

Oprah is coming under fire by Republican women for refusing to interview Sarah Palin on her show. Republican women around the nation have boycotted her show, ceased subscriptions to O magazine and loudly voice their opinions are on all the news shows.
Personally, I support Oprah's right to choose her guests. Oprah herself said early on that she wouldn't be putting any political candidate on her show in lieu of her publicly supporting Barack Obama. She would be biased, it would not be fair to her other guests, and quite frankly, it's her own freakin show!

We have raised a nation of whiners. wahh wahh, wahh all the way to the losers podium, there's plenty of room!
You know what, I've never been a fan of Oprah, but today, I think I'm going to go out and buy O magazine, just to support her decision. You should consider doing so too. Send a message to all those whiners.

Glenn Beck vs the Environment

This morning I awoke to the awful sounds of the Glenn Beck morning show bellowing from the radio. Beck, the old curmudgeon who rules the rednecks with an AM radio show and nightly television show, decided, like a confused teen hitting puberty, that it would be funny, even cool, to offset the DNC party's pledge to be environmentally friendly at this years' convention. Beck had his wife on the radio as she promised to drive at least 90 extra miles this week while she ran around the house plugging in all sorts of electronics, while his hick-listeners jumped on the band wagon and stupidly called in telling America what they are doing to offset the energy saved by the DNC.
Really Glenn, what are you, twelve? Your stupid listeners, many who can't even afford their electric bill, are literally eating every word you feed them, while they can't even fill afford to fill their gas tanks. Not everyone makes millions like you Glenn and can afford this type of irresponsible behavior. Is this the best you can do?
But hey, if it stops those damn liberals who cares what damage we do, right? When I listen to you Glenn, you remind me of the class clown in high-school that everyone laughed at. I feel sorry for you, you stupid clown.

Dennis Kucinich is my hero

Today is the last day to sign the impeachment petition put forth by Dennis Kucinich. If you feel that President Bush has violated his presidency by say, oh falsely leading us into war, jeopardizing our national currency and blatantly ignoring our Constitutional rights than you should also sign this petition. It takes two minutes, tops.
This is a rare moment in history and we should all take note. Congressmen Kucinich is risking it all to stand up for OUR rights and we should respond by thanking him profusely for his work and dedication to the American people.

obama likes arugula...so what?

I'm listening to this incredibly inane argument on CNN right now about why some people don't want to vote for Obama. "He's lofty, he likes arugula" Oh, so people don't know what arugula is therefore they don't understand where Obama is coming from. Does this not validate all that he was saying about Western PA and its' hardnose bible thumping gun toting citizens? "Well he eats this stuff called arugula, what the hell is that? I don't like him (grunt)" Is that how we make decisions anymore? Well maybe I'm lofty too, because arugula is one of the most delicious, spiciest salad greens out there.

mediatocricy

We are living in a mediatocricy. (A government run by the media) I've just coined a new word in response to the refusal to allow Dennis Kucinich to appear on Fox News during the Iowa Caucus, and now ABC did not allow Dennis in on the New Hampshire debates last night. America is not being given the entire spectrum of their voting pool, and for progressive thinkers, Kucinich really is the only candidate for real political change. Against the war, with a strong health care plan, for getting us away from our dependence on foreign oil, and most importantly for our rights as US citizens, Kucinich, a strong upholder of the Constitution, rings strong with my values. There are more than just two candidates people, open your eyes!
America will vote for whomever gets the most visibility from the powers of the media unless we realize we are being hoodwinked into voting for a corporate tool. Think about it.

Republicans scare me. Mitt Romney has little hope left, Guilani is ruined and Huckleberry has the evangelical support. Please don't let us slip into a Christian military state, with Huckleberry as our guide. Ron Paul is the only hope we, as American people, have other than Dennis. Would Obama, a black man, be able to win the vote against Huckleberry? Time will only tell. But I'm still hoping for Kucinich. http://www.dennis4president.com/home/
People, do yourself and everyone else a favor. Get educated, look beyond the obvious, be detectives. Make it work for all of us.

Ranting

On my twenty minute walk to work today I saw 12 girls wearing black tunics, leggings and flats. Wait, maybe they were all just the same person, maybe I was seeing double. Regardless, leggings and flats are so Kate Moss 2005. Only supermodels with slender calves can really pull off this look.
During this same walk at an early hour on a Monday I was assaulted numerous times with wafting scents of burning flesh...Meat to some of you fools. When are we going to realize that all this meat we are burning offends some, kills many, and is cruel and unusual punishment to creatures with whom we co-habitate. I smell rotting, burning flesh and my tummy flips, turns and almost comes back to my mouth; you, on the other hand, might salivate.
I tolerate cigarettes to a point, hell even smoked more than a few in my uninformed youth. But can someone please explain to me why cigars are not outlawed? I am not the only one who gets migraines the moment I smell a waft. I find it inexcusable that I am forced to deal with cigars on my own turf. Smoke 'em in your own private clubs with your other stuffy, over-dressed white-man friends. Please don't puff on the sidewalk, the park or anytime before noon. In Texas they are starting to bring this to legislation, and those Texans sure ain't happy. Boo hoo for you big guy with the oil plant and ten-gallon hat, we all deserve clean air to breathe. Aren't you doing enough damage already with your republican vote?
